See the difference is that outside of the US people don't need to worry about helmets because the roads and streets are actually safe

I was hit by a truck while I was on my bicycle. As you can probably tell, I lived through it. You know why????? BECAUSE I WAS WEARING MY FUCKING HELMET.
Blah blah blah drivers makes the roads less safe blah blah blah. I hit a rock, my bike swerved and the truck hit me. It wasnt his fault, it wasnt my fault, it was just a thing that happened. Freak accident. Shit HAPPENS sometimes.
Gluten free body of christ, it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it! What are you worried about? Looking dorky??? Literally the only reason I can think of to NOT wear a helmet is pure vanity. Maybe stop being so obsessed with how cool you look. Embrace the cringe and prevent brain injuries!
My very unpopular opinion apparently:
Straight cis perisex able-bodied neurotypical people using aids designed for disabled people (I.e weighted blankets, grabby claw, sock holder, etc), going to therapists occasionally to keep up their mental health, using fidget toys, choosing to call their bf/gf their partner, using pronouns besides the ones associated with their gender just because they like it, and doing a million other small things that make us fitting in and being accepted a little bit easier is in fact exactly the type of support these communities need, and will ultimately help us so much more than gatekeeping ever fuckin will
